Twitter CEO to relocate to Ghana for at least six months - Ursula Owusu | ghanaspinn

 A day ago by  Eli Mensah - Jack Dorsey, the CEO of Twitter is set to relocate to Ghana for at least six months - This was revealed by Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, the Minister for Communications and Digitisation In early April 2021, Twitter announced it had selected Ghana as the headquarters for its operations in Africa. 

Dorsey, the Chief Executive Officer of Twitter, the micro-blogging site will be relocating to Ghana for at least six months. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, the Minister of Communications and Digitisation made the disclosure on Friday, April 30, 2021 during an interview on Asaase Radio. 

In early April 2021, the company announced that it had selected Ghana as the headquarters for its operations in Africa.

“Jack will be based in Accra, so this will be his base while he visits the other countries on the continent and I am hoping that his friends would also follow him and see what he found so special about Accra,” shared Owusu-Ekuful in the interview.

It will be recalled that Dorsey made the announcement about Ghana being the headquarters of Twitter's African operations in a tweet on Monday, April 12, 2021. In his tweet, Dorsey stated that "Twitter is now present on the continent" and thank Ghana and President Nana Akufo-Addo." A blog post on Twitter's official website was attached to Dorsey's tweet giving further details. 

The announcement by Twitter that it has set up its African Headquarters in Ghana was well-received by Ghanaians on social media. Twitter, in a statement, revealed it is "in line with [its] growth strategy... to truly serve the public conversation, we must be more immersed in the rich and vibrant communities that drive the conversations taking place every day across the African continent."

Whilst Ghanaians were excited generally about the news, some Nigerians were not happy, expressing their frustration at their government for losing out on the chance to be the country to host the American company.
