Larruso's debut single, "Killy Killy", which catapulted him to fame, is stirring up controversy five years later. A video of a heated argument between the song's producer and Larruso's manager has surfaced online, following the producer's complaints about his earnings and lack of recognition from the artist.
On June 25, Martinson Ampadu, also known as Kulubayu—a fitness model and content creator—revealed details about his lesser-known music production career, which gave rise to Larruso's hit single. Kulubayu, known for his skits with Code Micky, expressed his frustrations with Larruso and his management during a recent interview with Giovanni Caleb on 3FM.
Kulubayu explained that he not only produced and engineered "Killy Killy" but also contributed to its writing. He mixed and mastered other tracks for Larruso as well. Despite his significant contributions, Kulubayu shared that he received only GH₵100 for the hit single and feels undervalued for his efforts in boosting Larruso's career.
The producer's revelations have led to a public quarrel with Larruso's manager, Jadon Shatter. In a recent video, Jadon Shatter was seen calling Kulubayu, urging him to stop airing grievances publicly.
"Killy Killy" became an instant dancehall sensation, earning Larruso endorsements from Stonebwoy and Kwesi Arthur, who added dynamic verses to the song's remix. Together, the original track and its remix have amassed over two million views on YouTube.
The dispute highlights the often unseen struggles behind the music industry and the importance of fair compensation and recognition for producers who play a crucial role in creating hit songs.
